Identifying Busiest Logical Drives

Home  Previous  Next

To identify the logical drives that generate the most traffic on the subsystem, use the TransferByteRate parameter of the SEN_I345_LOGICALDRIVE class. IBM DS3000, DS4000, DS5000 Series KM for PATROL offers you twso methods to visually represent a logical drive traffic.

Create a multi-parameter graph with the TransferByteRate of the logical drive objects you are suspecting

1.In the console, double-click the TransferByteRate parameter of the logical drive you are interested in. A graph is automatically displayed in the graph pane.

TREE_LogicalDrive_TranferByteRate

Selecting the TransferByteRate Parameter on a Local Drive

2.Then drag and drop the TransferByteRate Parameter of the other logical drive in the graph window

GRAPH_LogicalDrive_TransferByteRate

Graph – Transfer Byte Rate on a Local Drive

Use the Reporting…Command

1.Right-click the Logical Drives container > KM Commands > Reporting > Logical Drives Activity...
2.Define the report settings

Report_LogicalDrives_Settings

Configuring the Report Settings

Select the period that you wish the report to cover: number of days or hours
Select the interval to apply to the report data: hourly or daily
3.Click the Show Report button to display the graph

tipOnce you have identified the most busy logical drives, check the infobox of the suspected logical drives to find their storage groups and the hosts that generate such traffic.
