Enabling snapshots for a volume can sometimes lead to data loss or corruption if the additional space required to store the previous version(s) of the modified or deleted blocks is running out. To avoid this problem, NetApp allows administrators to reserve space in advance in the volume.
As an administrator, you may need to know whether your aggregates or LUNs have this option enabled. To do so, double-click the SpaceReservationStatus parameter of the SEN_NAP_7|C_AGGREGATE or SEN_NAP_7|C_LUN application classes to see whether this feature is enabled or disabled.
A PATROL query can also be created to list the SpaceReservationStatus of all the monitored elements:
1. | Open PATROL Central Operator Taskpad. |
2. | In the Action menu of the PATROL console, click New Query. |
▪ | Enter the Query Name (example: NetApp - Space Reservation Status) |
▪ | Enter the Query Description (optional) |
▪ | In the Query Results Filter section, select Show Selected Objects and check the Parameters box |
▪ | In the Additional Filtering section, select the Enable Application Class level filtering and the Enable Parameter level filtering options |
