Storage Pool Operations

Home  Previous  Next

Storage Pools are logical storage entities from which volumes are created. Storage Pools can be of two types:

RAID Group: Physical array of disks grouped in a RAID configuration
Thin Pool: Thin Provisioning Pool, same as a RAID Group with additional thin provisioning capabilities

The following operations allow administrators to automate the management of Storage Pool (RAID Group or Thin Pool) in the EMC disk arrays through EMC SMI-S Provider.

The supported operations for Storage Pools are:

get-storage-pool, to list the existing pools and their characteristics
create-storage-pool, to create a new pool in a storage system
delete-storage-pool, to remove an existing pool for a storage system
expand-storage-pool, to expand an existing pool for a storage system
get-raid-level, to list the available RAID Levels that can be configured for a new storage pool
