Monitoring your Storage Environment

Introduction

Hitachi Disk Arrays KM for PATROL monitors all of the performance metrics and usage statistics of your Hitachi disk arrays, such as file disk space usage, storage  controller utilization, I/Os on the disks/controllers/volumes, etc. It continuously monitors the activity of each array and is also able to build reports on past utilization statistics.

This chapter provides detailed information on how to manage connections to Hitachi Device Manager/embedded SMI-S provider, monitor your Hitachi storage environment, perform basic administrative tasks, and how to manage thresholds and alert actions with Hitachi Disk Arrays KM for PATROL.

To setup a complete monitoring of your managed environment, we strongly recommend you to also use Hardware Sentry KM for PATROL that covers all the physical aspect of the Hitachi equipment (status of the disks, ports, temperature, power supplies, power consumption, etc).
