Connector for monitoring HBA cards on all Windows-based systems through the WMI layer (root/WMI namespace)

Should you install this patch?

Install this patch if you are getting duplicate instances of LUNs and false missing LUN alarms.

What does it fix?

Because Windows regularly changes the unique identifiers of LUNs and physical disks, false missing/present alerts could occur for LUNs. To solve this issue, the connector now uses and displays the LUN's naa.ID, which is unique and does not change.

Using the naa.ID also helps link LUNs to the Storage System's volume as they share this unique identifier code. The connector now also displays the disk's Windows MPIO ID as well as the drive letters and partition names of any volumes on that LUN. A typical LUN ID will therefore read: naa.60616043312F05A4308DC65F111 (MPIO Disk0 - C:(OS) D:(Data))

How to install the patch?

  1. Copy the following file to the $PATROL_HOME/lib/MS_HW_hdf directory on the server where the PATROL Agent runs:
    • MS_HW_WBEMGenHBA.hdf
  2. Re-initialize Hardware Sentry for the patch to take effect.
  3. Nothing needs to be installed on Console systems.
